Lynne Bird
BiRd on a WhiM

"Art is as necessary to me as the air I breathe. When I am particularly overwhelmed by the many curve balls life has thrown my way, I take the time to J U S T paint, to lose myself in the meditative state of flow. This is for my Mental Health, me time. It is what has enabled me to paint full time.

First and foremost, my art is for me. Not to say that I need to be in such a state to create, I certainly do not. I often am inspired by the work of others and will think of ways to incorporate those techniques into my own work, I get into what I hashtag #experience_experiment.

I love to throw caution to the wind and “just do it”. There is no pause before adding something to a blank canvas, but indeed the use of whatever is at hand; markers, paint, water soluble crayons, charcoal, or alcohol inks are applied with glee. I like to make a mess and get my hands dirty. New starts are the most fun part of a painting!

My art is playful, colorful, full of texture and makes viewers happy, at least that is what I have been told on many occasions.

As I continue to play “what if?” and add layers, the piece will begin to develop, and the art will begin to take shape. Often, if I am not excited by the direction the work is going and will do something drastic, such as close my eyes and swipe a loaded paintbrush across the canvas, add some new marks in thick black marker or add some alcohol ink.

Some work ends up totally abstract, while others may take on a more subjective manner, I have two styles, one I call my Whimsical Bird Garden style and the second a more painterly, abstract style. In both one will find some BiRd (me) in there making my art recognizable to many as my work."

⏤ Lynne "BiRd"

"As an art professional in Harrisburg, PA, I am fortunate to work with Lynne McCreary. Not only is she an accomplished artist but she is a consummate professional. Her brilliant abstract works with detailed use of eye-popping color brighten every space she shows in. She has exhibited in several solo shows throughout the area and participates regularly in group shows I have enjoyed curating. I often ask her if I can hold on to her pieces for display in my sales gallery after the show has closed. I already have two of her smaller pieces in my personal collection and intend to acquire more."

Nate Foster, Director of Exhibitions, Art Association of Harrisburg

“Lynne's work is phenomenal! I've curated her work into a show because of her flair and commitment to individuality, techniques and storytelling. And I happen to be a personal collector as well!”

Lynne McCreary's talent knows no boundaries. Her art is the antithesis of minimalism, brimming with layers and intricacies that captivate the eye at every turn. Each piece she creates is a symphony of balanced complexity, with colors that pop and compositions that draw you in deeper with every glance.
